Shipping.

General

Outside the UK

Please Note: ALL prices on this website include UK VAT at 20% unless noted.

We are slowly adding shipping options for Europe and Rest of the World with the exception of Northern Ireland,

These options will NOT be available for PAINT or Long items.

Some of these shipping options will have the price set at zero. The VAT, will in most cases, be more than the cost of shipping and will be used to fund the cost of the shipping. Any remaining balance will be refunded.

In order for us to remove the VAT, we must ship out of the UK, items shipped to a UK address, collected from us, or purchased at a show will not have the VAT removed as we do not have proof that the items have left the country.

You MAY be able to claim a VAT refund at customs when you exit the country.

Shipping to Non UK addresses is possible for Paint and Long Items, however, the costs involved will almost certainly be more than the cost of the goods ordered.

As paint, solvents, thinners and Flux is classified by the UN as dangerous goods it MUST be sent securely packed and wrapped and it is this additional packaging that adds to the price.

Orders that do not contain Paint etc., with the exception of track and rail, will be shipped via the Royal Mail.

Shipping to ALL Non UK addresses will be at cost plus packaging.

Any import duties and or taxes will be your responsibility as will be ensuring that what you are importing is not illegal within your country or state.

We will not be responsable for destruction, impounding or any other such measures by customs or border control of the country or state we are shipping to.

If you wish to have ANY items shipped abroad, please email, in plain text, with the full order as well as the full delivery address including post/zip code.

UK Shipping

Orders to The Highlands and Islands of Scotland and the offshore islands, including the Isle of Wight, will be subject to a surcharge, unless the items shipped are Royal Mail compatable.

Shipping within the UK is split into two basic sections:-

Items which the Royal Mail  considers 'Safe and

Items which are considered 'Dangerous Goods' by the Royal Mail ™.

Safe Items include:-

Castings, Plastic Items, Paper Items inc. transfers and data sheets, solder wire, Water based paints, Water based varnishes and Water based enamels (in very small quantities), Kits, bits and pieces etc.

'Dangerous Goods' Include:-

Solvent based paints, varnishes and enamels, flux, chemicals, thinners and solvents, solder cream and paste, solder paint, Aerosols.

Where an order contains all 'safe' items you will be offered the option of shiping via the Royal Mail ™ at the checkout, HOWEVER, please be aware that because of the way Royal Mail ™ now price by a combination of both size and weight, where items are particularly bulky for the weight or heavy for the size it will probably be cheaper to ship via one of the courier services and we reserve the right to change the shipping method at point of dispatch.

We offer three basic delivery options for 'Dangerous Goods' -

Economy - This is the cheapest option we offer but it is also the most risky. ALL items sent by this service are at your risk. We do not recommend this service if you live in an area with a lot of named houses, long drives or properties that are, or can be, difficult to find.

Economy Signed For - Slightly more expensive, but generally more reliable. A signature MUST be obtained by the driver. If you are unlikely to be at home why not have it delivered to work, or a friend or neighbour. Alternatively why not ask if the Gym, local newsagent, village store etc. will accept the parcel for you.

Next Day - A Next Working Day, following the actual day of dispatch, service. A signature MUST be obtained by the driver. If you are unlikely to be at home why not have it delivered to work, or a friend or neighbour. Alternatively why not ask if the Gym, local newsagent, village store etc. will accept the parcel for you.

Dangerous Goods Shipping (Courier)

UK Mainland Economy at £5.25 (available for orders upto £15.00)

This is the cheapest service we offer, it can take up to five days from dispatch and it is AT YOUR RISK.

UK Highlands & Islands Economy (includes Isle of Wight, Isle of Man & Scilly Isles) at £9.75 - This is a minimum of two working days and up to seven days following the day of dispatch and it is AT YOUR RISK.

If you are not in, or take to long to answer the door, the drivers have authority to leave the parcel in a 'safe' place - usually this means the door step!! This service is totally UNINSURED AND AT YOUR RISK and even though it is tracked it is very difficult to trace items once they have been left by the driver.

IF Your Address is difficult to find, your nearest neighbour is a mile away or your drive is a half mile long we DO NOT recommend these services.

---------------------

UK Mainland Economy Signed For at £7.25 - This also can take up to five days from dispatch, but has the added requirement that the driver MUST obtain a signature for the delivery.

UK Highlands & Islands Economy Signed For (includes Isle of Wight, Isle of Man & Scilly Isles) at £16.95 - This is a minimum of two working days  and up to seven days following the day of dispatch. The driver MUST obtain a signature for the delivery.

---------------------

UK Mainland Next Day at £9.95 - This is next working day following the actual day of dispatch. The driver MUST obtain a signature for the delivery.
Next day means 'next working day' (ie Monday to Friday). 48 hour means the second working day after collection.

Northern Ireland - Currently we are waiting to find out costs etc. of shipping to NI

---------------------

Channel Islands at £19.25 - This is a minimum of two working days following the day of dispatch. The driver MUST obtain a signature for the delivery.

Orders are made up and packed, on Monday, Wednesday & Friday, and dispatched in the order that they were received.
Please Note: Whilst we make every effort to dispatch orders as soon as possible, we cannot guarantee this.
Please also note that a large number of the slower moving paints, particularly in the larger sizes, are only manufactured in small batches, if not to order, and a day or two delay may be caused whilst we manufacture an item.

Collection from us is between 12.00 and 13.00 hours Monday - Friday for Next Day service and between 14.30 and 15.00 for the economy service.

The cutoff point to have any chance of next day delivery is 11.00 on Monday, Wednesday or Friday.

Orders received after 11.00 MAY be dispatched same day but are more likely to packed after 15.00.

Orders packed after 15.00 hours will be dispatched on the following working day.

Please note: Once the order is dispatched by us, we have no control over it.
ALL of the couriers consider that if over 90 - 95% of deliveries are received within the delivery timescale, ie within 24 hours of dispatch for next day services, that they have met their contractual obligations. They all have very explicite wording in their contracts allowing them to extend delivery for any number of reasons.

Most orders are despatched Monday - Friday within 7 - 10 days of receipt of order, However, this cannot always be guaranteed.

Orders to addresses outside the UK do not pay VAT and any VAT will be deducted at time of invoicing.

Postage and Packing is extra on all export orders. We will be happy to quote.

Livery Data Sheets are now produced to order - Please allow a minimum of 14 days for delivery

Please allow UP TO 28 days delivery.

Payments

We accept most credit and debits cards both online, via this site, or over the 'phone. We DO NOT Accept cheques or Postal Orders.

We also accept cash payments at shows or from personal callers. (if you wish to call and collect from the works, please call first to ensure that what you want is in stock and will be available for you to collect. We cannot and will not accept any responsibility if you turn up on the doorstep only to find that the items you want are all out of stock.)

Website problems

The security setting on this website and its associated Opayo (Sagepay) link are set to the highest possible setting. This means that the data you enter MUST match the data that you card issuer has entered 100%. This is to protect both you and us.

The biggest cause of problems is house names, where you also have a number, and flats.

The systems designed to confirm that the card is your's, work on numeric values, these are your house number (name), your postcode numbers and the CCV (the last tree numbers on the back of the card).

IF you have a house number this must be on the first line of the address. If you also have a house name this is best removed from the billing address and just added to the delivery address.

IF you only have a house name please ensure that it is correctly displayed in both the billing and delivery addresses.

Flats and Appartments cause another very awkward problem because there is no clearly defined way for the card issuers to enter the data, However, experience tends to suggest that card issuers will combine the numbers. ie flat 21, 211 My Road. becomes 21211 My Road or 21/211 My Road

It can be just the flat number, the flat number combined with the street number or just the street number.
Only one combination will be correct but it could be any one of them.
