Great Northern Railway Ivatt and Gresley Green and
London & North Eastern Railway Standard Locomotive Green (Doncaster Shade). This is the official shade as authorised by H.N. (Nigel) Gresley (later Sir) in 1923.
Also used as LNER Coach Green [Tourist Stock]
Officially this colour was always refered to as Locomotive Green or by its 'official' nickname of Grass Green.
LNER Green locomotives were lined with a white/black/white configuration.
The L.N.E.R. Tourist Stock coaches were built with plywood sides over a wooden frame.
Because of the limitations of plywood, the decision was taken to paint such stock and a green and cream livery was choosen.
The green was below the waist panels with the cream (P64) above the waist. Standard lettering was applied.
