Steam Loco' Colours

G.W.R. Loco' Green (1928-45)

Great Western Railway Standard Locomotive Green as used for Locomotives for the period between 1928 and 1945.

In actual fact it is not the paint that changes colour but the way the overcoating varnish ages and yellows that changes the shade.
This particular colour, in conjunction with P7 Lining Orange and P8 Signal Red, is the correct green for Castles, Halls, Kings and the 4800 autotanks.

It should be noted that all of our GWR colours were matched to a privately preserved set of paint panels from Swindon Works. These not only had the colours, but the dates used and the names for each colour. Our understanding is that the panels had been signed by the CME for the period.

We started producing and selling precision paints in 1972

Since then we have had our ups and downs, have supplied British Railways, the National Railway Museum and various preservation societies but we still have, probably, the most accurate and extensive range of paints for the modeller of British Outline railways.

Since 2010 we have added to the variety of products we can offer the modeller, with kits, bits and pieces and now solders, fluxes and chemicals.
